What Is Kindergarten?
Kindergarten is a time
When learning can be fun.
It's creating a friendship
With that very special someone.
It's discovering new things
About our big, big world--
Why boys will be boys...
Why girls will be girls!
It's getting along with others
And learning to play fair.
It's learning how to color
In the lines and how to share.
Kindergarten's the place
Where life's great lessons unfold.
It's learning by doing
And not by being told.
The sky's always the limit
And the stars are always in reach.
These are the very lessons
The kindergarten can teach!
You can prepare yourself as
well as your child...
- Know the school calendar
- Read the teacher and school newsletters
- Know the names of all the teachers
and staff with whom your child is working
- Attend PTA meetings

with your child's teacher

class and throughout the school
You can help your child get off
to a good start...
- Strengthen responsibility and
independence in your child
- Promote interest in reading and
language use in your child
- Build good health and safety
habits
- Help your child get along with
others
- Build a supportive partnership
with Northwood
